Nathan P. Butler is best known in online circles for his Star Wars fandom efforts and small Expanded Universe contributions.

Professionally, Butler is primarily a high school Social Studies teacher in the Atlanta Metro area, having taught several different courses over the years, including: Economics; World History; American Government; Constitutional Law; and Debate. In this regard, Butler has an M.S. in Secondary Education from the University of Evansville and an M.S. in Education with a Specialization in Integrating Technology in the Classroom from Walden University.

Butler has also been a professional freelance writer on some occasions, including writing the short story Equals and Opposites for Star Wars Tales #21, which was later collected in Star Wars Tales, Volume 6 and re-released as a Hasbro Comic Pack with action figures based on Kyle Katarn and a Yuuzhan Vong warrior. He has also been hired to write a currently untitled Earther faction novella for the Decipher science fiction property WARS from Grail Quest Books, which is due in summer 2010.

On a volunteer basis, Butler has also contributed chronological data for Jason Fry and Dan Wallace’s Star Wars Essential Atlas, the StarWars.com “What’s the Story?” Databank entry for the DC-0052 Intergalactic Speeder (co-created), an interview for Will Brooker’s Using the Force: Creativity, Community, and Star Wars Fans, timeline information for Geoffrey Todd Carlton’s Star Wars Super Collector’s Wish Book, 4th Edition, and various small Star Wars continuity contributions (helping pin down the in-universe birth month of Anakin Solo, etc.).

Butler’s most prominent Star Wars fandom project is The Star Wars Timeline Gold, the culmination of his Star Wars Timeline Project, which has been available online in consistently updated forms since 1997. It has become the single most comprehensive Star Wars chronology document available anywhere.

Butler is also the founder of Star Wars Fanworks, the online home and hub of the Star Wars fan audio genre (since 2003). In the fan audio genre, aside from acting as a patron for the genre itself, Butler has been an active fan audio producer since 2002. Projects include:

Butler has also been a featured guest on numerous other Star Wars and sci-fi podcasts (Digital Llama Radio, EUCast, Requiem of the Outcast, Star Wars en Direct, Star Wars and Beyond, In the Beginning, Things are Looking Up, The Adventures of Indiana Jim, Star Wars Action News, and others). He has also lent his talents as a voice actor to numerous audio dramas, including Star Wars projects (Resurrection, Conquest of the Empire, Knights of the Old Republic: Outcasts, Stand, and others) and non-Star Wars productions (New World Army, The Stalker, Unlucky in Love, Hosea, and others).

Butler has also self-published two original stories, the novella Echoes (2006) and the novel Greater Good (2009), both of which are also available in audio format on his own website and on Podiobooks.com.

Butler currently hosts and produces The Butlerniverse, co-hosts The EU Review with Andrew Lupi, produces Expanding the Universe segments for Star Wars Action News, runs Star Wars Fanworks, works on the Star Wars Timeline Gold, teaches World History and Economics, and is writing his WARS novella.
